Long distance love
Have you ever been in a relationship with someone who is there for you emotionally and spiritually but not physically? It’s a whole new level of pain to love someone who is not in the same city or country as you. The pining and heart ache is too much for some to bare. I have witnessed it recently with a client who has been forced to end a relationship with a person she adores. Forced to end it so that she can create life in real time (outside of scheduled phone calls and virtual reality) she is still grieving her loss months later. Isn’t it amazing that some people can fall so deeply in love that the weeks they spend apart is inconsequential, as long as they can occasionally spend a few days together? But how long can two people endure a long distance relationship? Is it ever really going to work? Some say obstacles are put in our way to see if what we want is really worth fighting for. I spoke to Leigh van den Berg who was investigating going the distance. Read Long Distance for some insights on if it’s worth it and how to manage it.
